Savage Garden songs are basically the soundtrack to my middle school life and listening to them always brings me back to hanging out with friends, my first failed relationships and all the hopes I had for the world. Although I own both their CDs I was excited for this one. Unfortunately, I do not own it but have listened to it extensively.
This CD does contain many of their hits (Including, from Savage Garden - "I Want You" and "Truly Madly Deeply" and from Affirmation "I Knew I Loved You," "The Animal Song" and "Crash And Burn ") and, if you like the music but don't want to purchase the whole 2 albums or aren't a huge fan, this is a good CD full of 90's pop with strong, creative lyrics, danceable beats, sweet ballos and song mechanisms that don't necessarily fall into standard pop cliches.
This CD also contains B-sides which SG has released over the years.
Many SG fans, including myself, have fallen in love with those B-sides and the addition of this is genius. Although I never owned any of the singles, I spent much time hunting down the songs online to add them to my collection and I'm glad I did; though they may not have been singles themselves, they're all high quality gems and many are unique in sounds (which is probably why they were left off the CDs, not because they are dull songs).
I did not specifically notice the remastering although I have listened to these songs in digital format which may be less clear; however, as everyone knows, sometimes it's the clicks, pops and "white noise" that makes us love an album even more and, if that's what you're looking for, I suggest you buy the original 2 CDs.
I would also suggest you buy the original 2 CDs if you're more than just an average SG fan because SG's music is such that it is best appreciate when listening to the whole CD and you can better appreciate the arrangement of the songs that way. This compilation may also be missing some of your favourite tracks which were not big hits or released as singles.
To end on a positive note, you can also find 2 tracks by Darren Hayes as a solo artist - "So Beautful" and "California" - which are both, simply beautiful although "California" is rather sad.
Overall, a strong release with some awesome surprises which may be lacking in areas but it wouldn't make sense to have a 2 disc compilation when SG only released 2 CDs.
