This is transition Oasis, after they almost hit the ground with all the negative criticism to Be Here Now and the departure of two of its founding members (and in the bright side, Noel getting clean of drugs). Has been said that the Gallagers recorded this as a very focused album, and in the sound it shows, in a very psychedelic manner. But to me this is Oasis trying to sound like Pink Floyd. Most of the songs are mid-tempo, kinda dark-theme and depressing, and lacking the epic punch of the classic Oasis. That doesn't mean that this album isn't good (when it's good, it's REALLY that way). It just that when you've finished whith it, you'll be like "this is it?"
Liam gets his debut writing tune in "Little James", a song that most fans will be happy without it, but somehow I like it. The mixture between the lullaby sound and the psychedelic one worked really fine. Besides, is the only tune in here thats reminds the old Oasis. And to me, thats fine.
