This is the debut(?) CD for a gifted young chanteuse. The songs are well-crafted, original, and bouncy. Two have received national airplay...'Love Song' and 'Many the Miles'. Her voice is bright and crystal clear - and she employs it with complete control, no "Mariah Carey"ing on here! The melodies are infectious and the arrangements are sparse enough to allow the vocals and piano shine through. This is an impressive first effort from a fresh young talent. I look forward to future offerings from Ms.Bareilles eagerly; this might be the start of something big!

I first heard Sara on TV while I was travelling in Canada - nice interesting videos. This got me to listen to the album on this web site and I bought it after a first hearing. Her voice is a little but like Narina Pellot (a compliment) but she has a style that includes pop as well as jazz influenced songs that are a vaguely like early Steely Dan. She's got a great voice; strong clear and with a range that can cope with songs others would make sound like a stretch. This is a great album. Tracks 7,9 and 12 are some of the best of their type you'll hear from a first album. She also looks beautiful when she has that half smnile!
